    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Geo WARREN which was taken at the White & Hugus Studio in Ottumwa, Iowa. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Geo appearing to be in his 20's or 30's at the time. Unfortunately the family bible was lost when Aunt Mildred and Uncle Donald passed on. There were also several family portaits lost during this time too. John was born was b. 7 Jan 1795, d. 16 Jan 1879; married Jane Dillingham (b. 1801- d. 1855) in 1817. He remarried to Amanda Belt Watson on 25 Sept 1855, she was b. 8 Jan 1822 - d. 31 Mar 1926. Eleven children: James, Martin, Margaret, Sarah(Sallie), John Rodgers, Cynthia Jane, Geo Washington, Julia, Frances, Edmund, and Richard F. Their five children: Richard Frank, Aldridge Belt, Woodson Childs, Fustavus, John Edgar(b. 1 May 1914), married Elizabeth Smith. The book is very hard to follow, the author jumps all over the place making it difficult to follow the generations. There are birth dates and marriages for others in this line. If this is the correct line, I can scan the pages and either post or email them to you. I looked for John and Amanda as a couple when searching. They were almost at the end of the book. Author: jenniferlittlechild Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.warren/3363.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi. I am currently researching the Warren family; my mother is a GG Grand daughter of William Henry Warren. The family all arrive in Melbourne in December 14th 1852 on the Bombay. It seems like the whole family settled in Beechworth, Victoria. Their mother Jane ran a boarding house 'Cornwall House' and raised William Henry's 3 young children while it seemed he worked industriously helping his brother Richard establish the printing and newspaper busineess. In 1860 after re-marrying, sold his share in the Ovens & Murray Advertiser, and moved to Rutherglen to mine for gold & established a dairy farm & planted vines. I've just returned from a trip to Beechworth & searched the rates records. It shows William Henry owning land and building in Loch St ( probably the boarding house run by his mother) 1856- 1861 Rates Records. James Warren initially occupied Gov. Land in Last St West; then owned building and land on Spring Creek opposite Short St. It is shown that William Henry owned building and land in Ford St with his brother Richard in 1857 - 1860, which would have been the first office of the Ovens & Murray Advertiser; their father John is shown to occupy a building in Ford St owned by William & Richard. William Henry sold his share of the newspaper in 1860 and moved to Rutherglen. My mother is still alive and well at 95yrs, and is the daughter of Charles Warren, son of Frances John, William Henry and Mary Ann Hosking's 3rd child Frances worked as a blacksmith in Collingwood, and married Emma Lousie Porritt. They lived in Emma St Collingwood. I'd loved to find more stories and information in anyone has it? Cheers Jen Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
