    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Warren Classification: Biography Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WZVBAIB/3148 Message Board Post: There is an interesting article in the Canadian Geographical Journal of July/August 2002 on computer research tools used by the Canadian Centre for Architecture to study the architectural history of Montreal. As an example the article uses a house in Vieux Montreal occupied by a Marie-Madelaine Warren and her husband Phillippe Robitaille and gives some of her personal history. Basically she was born Grizel Warren in what would become Maine in 1662. At 18 she married 60 year old Richard Otis, balcksmith, as his third wife in the Cocheco, New Hampshire. On 28 Jun 1689 Cocheco was attacked by an Abenaki war party allied with France. Twenty-three inhabitants were killed and 29 carried away including Grizel Warren, her 3 month old daughter Margaret, and two step-children. They eventually ended up in Montreal where they were re-baptized as Marie-Madelaine (Grizel) and Christine (Margaret). There is a marriage contract with Philippe Robitaille dated 15 Oct 1693 in Montreal and she had one daughter and four sons with him. Someone on this board might be interested.

    1. [WARREN] Jasper WARREN
    2. I am searching for any descendants of Jasper WARREN. He was born on 02 April 1841, in Hamden, Delaware County, New York, to Richard and Rachael (BUTLER) WARREN. He served as a volunteer in the Civil War, Company C, 144th Regiment of N.Y. He was discharged on 25 June 1865 at Hilton Head, South Carolina. He returned to Hamden for a short period, then moved to Santa Clara, California and became a carpenter. Jasper never married, so a direct descendant will not be found, however, according to the 1910 Federal Census, Jasper was living with a nephew, George M. and Bessie WARREN, at 1145 Jackson St. Santa Clara, California. According to the 1920 Federal Census, Jasper was living at 1160 Jackson St. Santa Clara, with a niece Bertha WARREN and her mother Elizabeth WARREN. Jasper died at home; I am assuming it was 1160 Jackson St., on 02 November 1927. I am searching for descendants of George & Bessie, or Bertha & Elizabeth WARREN. Thank you for any information you can forward to me. Ed DUFF, Arizona ERDUFF@aol.com

    2. Hi Eileen, According to the 1850 Pennsylvania Census, the Isaac and Susan Warren I'm interested in, were born circa 1810. Their children were Samuel, 18; David, 17; Elyah (sp?) 16; Catherine, 16; Margaret, 10; Charles, 8 and Edward, 6. You are probably correct in stating that these Warrens in Menallen Township are related. The problem is to whom and how. Thanks for your input. Alan

    3. Hi Alan, Frederick Warren and Mary Morgan had a son Isaac, born 1779, who married Susan Noel. The Noels were neighbors and two of the sons married daughters of that family. I don't see a Samuel on the list of his children, but his brother David who married Theresa Noel had a Samuel, 1825-1896. I think perhaps that the other Warrens in the area may have been siblings of Frederick Warren. We have been searching for several years for his parents, and Mary Morgan's, and are getting a good feeling that we may have found them. There is no proof (documentation) yet. I have just suggested that Anita Bryan try to locate Carol Constance Boyer's research. She is descended from David Warren. It's on the internet and also in some genealgy libraries. I research with several cousins and I hope we learn that the three of you, Tammy, Anita and yourself, are our cousins too. I believe my Samuel was the son of Isaac D. Warren and his wife Susan, Both were born about 1810 according to 1850 Census material. My Samuel enlisted in the Union Army in Adams County. After the Civil War, he lived in Cumberland County and was buried in Middle Spring Presbyterian Church. He was married to Mary Donavin Speer. 3. Hello tsm, Allan and Anita, It's possible that you are researching the same Warren family that I am descended from, i.e., Frederick and Mary Warren of Menallen township, Adams County, PA, 1740 to 1800. I'm a fourth great-granddaughter through their son, Thomas. I have quite a bit of information on this family. We don't know who Frederick's siblings were, but more comes to light in bits and pieces.
