Dear List Members, I look forward to the year 2003 being a great one for our list. Because of the amount new members we have subscribing every day, I feel it is time to again post the suggested rules of the list...even us long time members need reminding once in a while. 1 I have very few rules on the lists I watch over. The main one is to treat your fellow members as you would like to be treated. Also the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc. (in other words - spam) is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me Kathleen Burnett KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net 2. If someone posts a message to the list that should not have been posted, please just delete it. Know that I am taking care of the problem. When you post your unhappiness, then you just continue on the problem. I know it is hard when your heart has been offended, but for my sake, and the sake of the list, please just delete it. Rootsweb has a wonderful Spam Detective and it stops most of it. You should see what comes across my screen. I have to look at each of them to make sure that what was stopped was truly Spam. Once in a while, one slips by though and if this happens, just delete it and go on with what we all love, genealogical research. Some suggestions to make our list run smoother are: 1. If you would put information such as names, places, and dates relating to your posting, in the subject line, it might give you a better chance to attract the attention of someone who has the information you are looking for or the attention of someone who is searching for the information you are posting. 2. Please remember to delete the taglines and un-needed words when you re-send a message to the list with your answer. If you don't check this, your responses can become quite large and may cause problems with some of our member's servers. This member who might not be able to receive your message because of its size, just might be your long lost second cousin with all the answers you are looking for. 3. Remember to keep your Virus protection up to date and never open any attached file unless you are 100% sure what it is and even then you are taking a chance. If you do notice that one of our members has a virus, please do not post their name and e-mail address across the list. Let me know and I will take care of the problem. Most likely the member already knows and is in a major state of stress. Receiving messages of each of us will only cause his or her stress level to rise. 4. Please remember, we have members from all walks of life, all ages and all levels of education on our list. Be understanding. The very person who mis-spelled every other word in their posting could be the very one with your missing family bible in their attic. Some sites to remember: 1. There is a great Rootsweb site, Password Central, you can go to if You want to find out what Rootsweb lists you are a member of or need to unsubscribe from a list, just follow the instructions. http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ 2. If you would like to visit the archived messages for this list you may go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ and type in the name of the list you want to see the archives for. From there you can search by date. 3. If you are interested in knowing about other mailing list out there, one of the very best inventories of genealogical mailing lists is John Fullers Genealogy Resources on the Internet located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~jfuller/gen_mail.html I want to thank each of you for your continued support of me and your willingness to help make this list the success it is. My grgrgrandfather was Calvin Warren bn abt 1810. He married Nancy Shaff/Scheff(sp) about 1831. I have seen Nancy being born in Saratoga, NY. Following censuses it appears Nancy died abt early 1870's & list Calvin living with son John in Hannabil(Oswego Co, NY). I find listed along the way children of Nancy & Calvin as John 1832; a boy & girl in 1830's a daughter Cordelia abt 1842 and my Grgrandfather Wm in 1844. All children appear to be born in Oswego Co, Ny. Eventually most moved to Onondaga Co, NY. I see a recent listing for Cordelia Warren listed as submitted to Morman records after 1991. It has he parents as Calvin Warren & Nancy ? of Oswego Co, NY. Wm's death certificate list father as born in Vt. Census says Ct.. Does any of this sound familiar to you? Have you possibally come across any of these names in your research? I live in Tx now & not able to do local research. Any help, infor etc appreciated. Thank you! Lorraine
Thanks to those who responded to my enquiry about the 1902 Warren book. You have been most helpful and generous. My new search now is for an account of the Warrenstown Warrens in Ireland, which author Rev Thomas Warren says are 'respectable and ancient' there. I would like to correspond with anyone who has worked these out - from about 1700 back, apparently to the 1154 reign of Henry II. I will look in the gen-medieval list archives too. barrie the Warrens are french, they are cambro-norman.They go back too William the Conqueror days. Norman's lords {robin hood days] were given land as spoils of war.many went to Wales and then to Ireland.late 1600. you must remember they were protestant, and fleeing the genocide done of them.same deal as the pilgrims of america. This is true of my family, and several of the allied families.

My great grandmother was Anna Eliza Warren, born 23 July 1858 in Columbus, OH to Jim Warren and Emma/Emeline Bradshaw. I believe they were both born in OH, but have no proof of this nor any clue as to who their parents were. Anna married William Leander Anthis in Decker, Knox Co. IN 14 March 1878. I think Anna had a sister named Arclissa and a brother John ( b. 1867). I have searched for years and found nothing more about Jim and Emma.. they seem to have appeared from nowhere and dropped off the earth after Anna married. Any help would be much appreciated.
