Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.warren/4212.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi, I came across this message by complete accident. I am trying to research my mother-in-law's line, which is the surname Crowe of Connecticut. She was born in 1933 and is the granddaughter of Willis Crowe (1874-?) and Grace Anna (MacDonanld) (1879-?). All the message boards seem to only talk of Crowes in Georgia, North Carolina and points south. The thing that surprised me was that you were talking about William Warren. I just so happen to be a direct decendent of a William Warren of Devon. The one at least in my family wed Emily Jane Searle either in Devon (probably Totnes) or the US and immigrated here at some some time prior to 1870. Their son, Henry J. Warren (1866-abt.1915) married Emily Jane Hill (1876-?, immigrant from Devon) and had a son, George William Warren (1899-1961). He wed Bertha Johanna Hoch (1895-1985) and gave issue to my father in 1930, who is still living. My mother was Joyce Louise Landgraf b. 1929 who just passed away this February. Luckily, I am still breathing. Those are only the direct line. When I look at the the family with the siblings from William to me there is actually very little variety in names until my 2 sisters and I were born. The name William was used in each generation either as first name and/or a middle name (like my father). I have not been able to trace my William Warren back in England although there is another family tree online that claims his parents are Samuel Warren and Maria Court. They may be correct, but there are no citations. I am curious if both of our Williams are from one family back in Devon at a certian point. If so it would mean that the family split up with part going to America and part staying behind. I would love to know this. My family are Illinois Warrens. We went to where there was work on the RR and a full three generations of Warrens worked on the Rock Island RR outside the Chicago area in Cook County. Pamela Warren Coe
Is there anyone on this list researching the Warren family in Sedalia MO,???? Robin

I apologize about signing my name on the gatewayed post below as "Warren List Admin" when I am most certainly not. I am the Warren Board Admin and I was letting my fingers fly to fast and my eyes too slow. I deleted the incorrect post on the board and replaced it with a corrected one, so regrettably you will see it twice since both were gatewayed. When he entered service he gave Terrell County, GA as his home of record. His remains were never recovered. Soldier: EVERETT WARREN Born: April 1, 1930, Caucasian Date of loss: July 16, 1950 POW When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Warren family is one of those missing. When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency. I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.
