I am descended from Jeremiah WARREN b. abt. 1778, who is listed in the Franklin Co., AL census beginning in 1850. His wife was Nancy b. abt. 1810, her state of birth given as Georgia. Their land later became part of Colbert Co. Their oldest son (my ancestor) was John H. WARREN, b. 1827; I have never found out what the "H." stood for. Their other children were: Charles Jackson, b. 1833; Ann, b. abt. 1838; Cassy Ann, b. abt. 1842; Marion (male) b. abt. 1845 and Elizabeth, b. abt. 1845, all in AL. I have found one other WARREN reference in Franklin Co. in that time period, the estate of Hugh WARREN in the same census. Jeremiah's service records from The War of 1812 lists his place of enlistment as Clayville, in what is now Harrison Co., KY. I also have a copy of an affidavit executed 6 November, 1850 in Franklin Co., AL which details his enlistment and discharge dates for the purpose of obtaining a bounty land grant. I am hopeful that we can find a connection between your WARREN children and my line in AL. The Franklin Co. connection may bear fruit. At present, I am unable to get past Jeremiah to his line. Thank you... Dale Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I also found a John HINER in the Bureau of Land Managment data base where he purchased 160 acres in Chickasaw Co., in 1847. The data base is sometimes tricky because Clay Co. was formed out of portions of Chickasaw Co. in 1871 and you have to look in both couties for towns like Palo Alto which is now in Clay co. The Warren family I may be looking for is perhaps headed up by a Horace Warren. He bought land near Palo Alto, Chickasaw Co.(now Clay Co.), Mississippi in 1843. He is from Franklin co., Alabama, according to the BLM documents. I will be pursuing this guy. Thanks again for your helpfulness! Author: WCarah Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.warren/4409/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for anyone who can tell me something about Nancy Hiner and Alice Magby who lived in Palo Alto, Chickasaw Co., Mississippi at the time of the 1860 census. Nancy Hiner is listed as a farmer, Age 57, and born in Georgia. In her household the only other persons are three children who had the Warren surname: John Warren, Age 9, b. MS Rhody Warren, Age 7, b. MS Lester Warren, Age 5, b. MS Next door is a family headed by an Alice Magby, age 58 and born in North Carolina. She is also evidently a widow as she is given the occupation of farmer. Alice has three of her own children--Vardry Magby, Age 35; Walter Magby, Age 22; and Kate Magby, Age 20. Also in this household are three more Warren surnamed children: Vardry Warren, Age 19, b. MS Lydia Warren, Age 14, b. MS Alice Warren, Age 12, b. MS Are these two sets of Warren's siblings? Note that the unusual name of Vardry occurs in both the Warren and Magby children. I would like to know how both of these women came to be what appears to be guardians of the Warren children. There is no apparent trace of any of these people, except John Warren, in the 1870 and later cenusues. I am trying to establish the identity of the parents of John Warren. Thanks Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If you would like to reply to them, please click on the Message Board URL link above and respond on the board.

Have not found another mention of the Warren children.
