Additionally, the Ann I found in 1860 and 1870 is head of household in both censuses; was William away for a large number of years? The children do seem to match up as there is a Melissa of that age living with Ann in the 1870 census and Leer living with her in one of them (I can't remember which one, my notes aren't out yet, I just got home). I also looked at Dr. Holland Warren books as he does list Larkin Warren I looked on the marriage records and bingo I found a Anny Lewis married to a William Warren on November 28, 1823 Caswell Co., NC. this would conform with the children on the census This would be the same W G Warren I showed ;you on on the 1880 census. Theresa b.10 Sep 1879 Barstow, Illinois d.02 Apr 1952. She married PAUL FREDERICK GERHARDT 18 Jul 1900, Barstow, Illinois. Theresa and Paul were my great grandparents. Her parents were CHESTER H WARREN & MARTHA(?) or MATILDA (?) COOK, married 20 Dec 1874, Rock Island, Illinois. I have a newspaper article from Rock Island, Illinois that says Theresa's parents were from England. That they had died when she was very small. Also that a French grandmother raised her, THERESA LANGUE. I positivly know that Theres'a mother was French. My grandmother told me she had a grandmother from Paris, France and she was a "Can-Can" Dancer. I have found a THERESA COOK from France, living in 1880, New Bedford, Bristol, Massachusetts 1854. With her is husband PHILLIP H COOK born Massachusetts,b.1848 in 1880 and is a sailor. They have a son FRANCIS H COOK b 1875, born in Massachusetts. I am not sure if this is Theresa Warren's grandparents or not. Does anyone have any of these names? Searching for info proving the relationship of father Samuel Warren, b 12 Feb 1878 in VT or NY, d 23 Nov 1842 in MI , and his son Franklin F. Warren, b 18 Jan 1823 in NY, died 10 March 1900 in Clinton County, IA. The father's name varies, depending on the researcher: some say it is Emery Samuel Warren, others say it is only Samuel Warren. The confusing part is that there are several Emery Samuel Warren cousins in the family. His probate gives his name as Samuel. He was married in 1810 to Rebecca George. The probate copy is extremely difficult to read, and does not mention his children. Have been unable to locate obits for either Samuel or Franklin. The Green Warren family may not in fact be connected to my Warren line but I do find it interesting that both appear to come from NC. At any rate, the specific Warrens that I'm looking for appear to have settled in Robberson Township, Greene County. I have Lucy A. Warren marrying Roger Qualls Banfield ~ 1845. A William Warren appears as a witness for the will of Tabitha Banfield, dated 11 July 1844. The Springfield Advertiser lists a William Warren dying in late 1844 (the specific reference is at home and I'm at work). I may be stretching to connect the two (William and Lucy) but it seems to me to be a logical deduction - perhaps not as father/daughter but related in some way. In the 1860 census, Ann Warren appears as follows in Robberson Township: 252 262 Ann Warren, 49, F, NC Mary ", 16, F, NC Leer ", 12, M, NC James ", 9, M, TN The Roger Banfield family appears as 213, 222 in Robberson Township. In 1870, this Ann Warren family appears directly after Roger and Lucy's household, again in Robberson Township. The ages of the children in Ann's household are problematic for William (who died in 1844) being the father, but the proximity of their households in 1870 suggests a connection to me. Any ideas?
