    3. Hi all. I am new to the list and this is my first posting to the list. My ancestor, Richard Branham, enlisted in the service 11 Jan. 1809 and was honorably discharged 13 Jan. 1814. He fought during the War of 1812. He enlisted in Stokes Co., NC in a rifle regiment under Benjamin Forsyth. When he was discharged in 1814, he was in Wm. Smyth's company, rifle regiment. In doing a little bit of research on the net, I found where Benjamin Forsyth was killed in 1813. I am under the assumption that Wm. Smyth must have taken over that Co. Richard applied for land in 1820 per a deed I located in Cumberland Co. KY. I have not been able to find where the land was (assuming he recieved it). Can anyone tell me where the land the Gov. was giving in 1820 may have been? Also, is anyone familiar with Benj. Farsyth and Wm. Smyth's rifle regiment and can tell me about them? Thanks for any and all information. Rex Bertram --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
