I have a book called "A Gentlemanly and Honorable Profession" The Creation of The U.S. Naval Officer Corps, 1794-1815. If you have an ancestor from the War of 1812 in the Navy, let me know and I will look to see if there is anything in this book. Please see if you have a David Nelson, surgeon's mate. He was probably from Philadelphia but settled in Jefferson County, NY where he married Sophia Patrick Dec., 1816. He became a member of the Jeff. Co. Medical Society until his death about 1830. Any help is appreciated. There is no pension application that I could find. Carolyn Bulgey cbulgey@adelphia.net
