Yes pensions were given for veterans of the War of 1812. I've been the War of 1812 route before. When you send for records, send for the full pension file. I use Form NATF 85. Be sure to put in the state in which your ancestor served FROM, the info at the top of the form sometimes confuses people. I put the state in which he was born instead of the state he served from, that was wrong, so be sure to put the state he served from. When I go to the genealogy society this coming week I can look up in the War of 1812 Penshioners book to see if he is listed. I have been doing that for quite a few people on this list. I'll let you know what I find during the week. My ancestor was born in Maryland and lived there at the time of the war, BUT he served from New York State. If he received a pension I'll find him in the book. War records are very interesting. Have a great weekend.
