    3. I have just joined the list hoping to find someone knowledgeable on the various militia regiments that were formed during the War of 1812. I have several locations that I am researching - Frederick Co. MD and Loudoun Co. MD but right now I am concentrating on Middletown, Frederick Co. MD. Does anyone on the list have any information or suggestions of which of the Maryland Militia Regiments was recruited from Middletown, Frederick Co., MD? I am looking for a John Young -- in the Ancestry.com War of 1812 database there are 174 John Youngs listed - about 25 of them found in the various Maryland Regiments. In the book "Frederick County Militia in the War of 1812" by Sallie A. Mallick & F. Edward Wright there are 5 John Youngs - but the details that are offered do not single out which (if any) is my John Young. Since my John Young was born, lived his life and is buried in Middletown, Frederick Co. MD I am hoping that when he enlisted to fight in the War of 1812 it would have been in Middletown, MD. - but which regiment?? I have ordered a number of War of 1812 records from NARA in connection with ancestors in Loudoun Co. VA and have received some that are disappointingly skimpy and some that are chocked full of great details. I have been lucky in that the Virginia group had less common names but I am also interested in knowing if there is information available on where the various War of 1812 Militia Regiments for Virginia originated (particularly 60 Reg't., Minor's, VA Militia, 56 Reg't., Taylor's, VA Militia & 57 Reg't., VA Militia). Thank you for any help or direction that you are able to offer, Susan McIntyre
