    3. He may have been an in the US Army or in the militia of another state - do you know when and where he came from? You might try the County Recorders Office at the courthouse in Jefferson County. They keep the graves registration records for all known veterans - this was started in the 1930's by the WPA and is kept up to date by Ohio State law. I know this because his grandson reported it to the fellow who wrote the history of Jefferson County, Ohio. So, it has to be true, right? <g> Well, you guessed my problem. The fellow isn't in any roster of Ohio soldiers. There are James Moores but they are only privates. James' dad was a judge so he comes from a respectable family. It just might be true.
