I am new to your list. So please let me know if I am searching in the right place. I am looking for information on a James Nations. It is said that he was a veteran of the War of 1812. James Nations was born Jan 6, 1791 (in Tennessee?) I am seeking information as to where he joined and served. It has been suggested that James Nations was from Tennessee - but I am not sure if that is true. Or where in Tennessee he may have been from - except that it must have been eastern TN at that time. What information I do have is this: That James Nations served in the War of 1812 as a private in Captain Steele's Co., 2nd Regiment, Tennessee Mounted Volunteers, from Sept. 1814 to April 1815. It is also thought that a Nathanial Nations also served and could possibly be his brother. His father's name: Joseph Nations. I would like to confirm what information I have and perhaps get more information on the family, etc. Any suggestions or help you could provide would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Edith
