Can anyone tell me if the NY militia served in the War of 1812, or was it all regular army service? Thank for any input, Caroline Villier, Murrieta, CA peahill@pcinternet.net
According to the book: "The War of 1812" by John K. Mahon, 1972, page 100; New York had 14,866 men in its militia. The regular army totaled 19,036 in February 1813. State militia contributed most of those who saw service in the second war with the British Empire.
