I found the Cornelius Bassett was granted a pension for service in this war. He was in Ogle Co. Ill. and received $55. Where do I look to find his pension information? I also would like to find his final pension records because that might give light to where he died. I have a suggestion that he is buried in Sleepy Hollow, Tarrytown, NY, but I have contacted and even visited the cemetery and he is not there. He was in the 1860 Census in Ogle Co. Ill. Anyone have access to these pension records? Thanks Marita
Cornelius Bassett was listed in the pension records of 1832 as having served with the Mass. State Troops he was receiving a pension in 4/11/1833 in Berkshire County Mass at the age of 80. In 1840 he is shown drawing a Pension at the age of 79 living in Lee Township, Berkshire County, Mass.He was recorded as living with Cornelius Bassett Jr. Could your Cornelius Bassett be Cornelius Bassett Jr ?? ----- Original Message ----- From: "riti" <maritag@earthlink.net> To: <WARof1812-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 11, 2003 7:12 AM Subject: Re: WARof1812-D Digest V03 #40 > I found the Cornelius Bassett was granted a pension for service in this > war.
