My 3rd great grandfather, Joel Gillett, served as Captain of an Artillery Company in the 13th NY Militia Regiment. He was from Franklin, Delaware Co., NY. The 13th NY Militia Regiment was under the command of Colonel Putnam Farrington, from Delhi, Delaware Co., NY. Joel Gillett is listed on the Delaware County, NY record of Militia Enrollments & Oaths three different times. First enrolled as an Artillery 1st Lieutenant on June 2, 1807. Then as a Captain of Artillery on May 23, 1814. His last listing is as a Major in the 5th Regiment Artillery on October 22, 1821. My other 3rd great grandfather, Darius S. Smith, is listed as serving as a Private in "Farrington's Regiment", 13th New York Militia. He was also from Franklin, Delaware Co., NY. Capt. Gillett's daughter and Pvt. Smith's son were married on October 11, 1821 in Franklin, Delaware Co., NY. The 13th New York Militia Regiment was primarily a Delaware County, NY regiment.
