    3. Don't know if it is 'on-line', but the published rosters for Kentucky were printed by Adjutant General in 1891: "Kentucky Soldiers of the War of 1812" re-print Clearfield Company, 1995. There are eight men with the name John Foster and one with Jonathan Foster in the index - none were officers. There is a web site for Tennessee Units for the War of 1812: http://www.state.tn.us/sos/statelib/pubsvs/1812reg.htm Do not see an index, the regiments are in order by commanding officer. I'm trying to verify that my ancestor, Col. John Foster, service in the War of 1812 and during this time period he would have been in Kentucky (going by census info on where most of his children were born.) He did finally settle in Tennessee where he died in 1857. I have found some rosters for Kentucky but they are not complete. Thanks much.
