    3. There is a James Oliphant who was a private in Captain William F. Buyers Company, 77th Regiment Pennsylvania Militia. Do not see the surname in the published rosters of Ohio and Kentucky. You might contact the National Archives for a military or pension record. Ohio counties have a graves registration program for veterans of all wars, by state law the recorders office in the courthouse has the information. I have personally used these to find the cemetery, dates of birth and death as well as the service of veterans of the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Civil War and Spanish American War buried in several counties in central Ohio. Of course no record is perfect.
