Hi - I am trying to obtain information about my-4g grandfather, Francis Weaver, who ended up in Chelmsford MA as foreman of the Middlesex Glassworks. According to the obit of his son, Samuel Hunt Weaver, Francis, born in Prussia, was initially with Napoleon's Army and "escaped" to the British Army just before the battle of Jena. It goes on to state that, while in America with the British Army in 1812, Francis "gave the British the slip" (which I translate into "deserted") and ended up in Chelmsford, marrying Naomi Hunt, of the Revolutionary War hero Hunts. I am trying to find out if there is any list or other information available about these British "recruits" and "deserters". He was reportedly quite an interesting character, and I am interested in learning more about him. Thanks Susan in Georgia
