Here's another unit I'd like to know more about: Another possible ancestor, John White, enlisted in Capt. Shirley's Company, Barbee's Regiment, Kentucky Militia. He signed up in August 1812 for six months' service. Did this unit see any action? Later, in 1813, John also enlisted in Taul's Regiment, Kentucky Volunteers--rendezvoused at Newport, KY on August 31, 1813. He was on the roll of Capt. Samuel Tate's Company--to serve till November 14, 1813. However, a note on the roster says, "Left behind." What can you tell me about these two regiments?
