    1. RE: British Swiss De Mueron Regiment
    2. For WEAVER, a study of the Swiss De Mueron Regiment might be your best persuit. In 1814, the Swiss De Mueron left Europe and fought at the Battle of Plattsburgh. Of the estimated 14,000 British army, US Gen Macomb reports that approx 9,500 British were taken prisoner during the British hasty retreat (and this initialy with only 1500 effective US Regulars). Considering the large number of prisoners, I would surmise that they were all offered the opportunity to become American citizens. Some would take that opportunity. Some of the Swiss De Mueron were also at the Seige of Old Fort Erie in 1814.
