"Soldiers of the King", won't tell you which soldier had Loyalist roots and which had American immigrant roots, let alone which had Quaker loyalist roots etc. Donald E. Graves (Red Coats and grey Jackets, etc), and Robert Malcomson both touch on ancestry of some individuals covered in their comphrensive historical research of battles of the War of 1812. As far as know, there hasn't been a comprehensive study of Loyalists who fought in the War of 1812. I am trying to locate a list of troops who served during the War of 1812 in the 3rd Regiment East TN. Militia, commanded by Col. Wm. Johnson and the company commanded by Captain James Tunnell. I have seen a history of the regiment on the TN State Archives web site. I have 3 ancestors who served in the same company: Thomas Asher, Harmon Thompson and Thomas Laxton from Anderson Co. TN. Any comments or suggestions will be welcomed. Glenn Hand
Greetings Murray, You are correct, there isn't a comprehensive study of Loyalists who fought in the War of 1812, nor is there any that address American immigration roots, let alone Quaker Loyalist roots, but all of the aforementioned individuals who fought in the War of 1812 are included in "Soldiers of the King", by William Gray. Granted they don't have an asterisk by their name stating Loyalist, but combine this book with a few others out there on Loyalists, Loyalist Quakers, etc.and you are well on your way.
