In case I am not the only newbie who does not know what CMSR stands for, it stand for Compiled Military Service Records (CMSR). Charles (CKR, another list member, said in his posting, "Each volunteer soldier has one Compiled Military Service Record (CMSR) for each regiment in which he served." Patrick wrote on 3/8/2004 (mailto:Patrick20@comcast.net) in response to my question about what CMSR stood for Lee Anne. go to rootsweb.com, click on message boards. then browse all topics, then military, then I think 1812, might be wars then 1812, but when on the 1812 section click on general board and key CMSR in the search area being sure to put the little dot in the general board area otherwise it will give you 2000 entries instead of the 6 or so listed on this board explaining what a CMSR is, and how to obtain one.
