    3. Bonjour, I wonder if you all know about the definitive work on the War of 1812 that is available on the internet for free.... http://freepages.history.rootsweb.com/~wcarr1/Lossing2/Contents.html In addition, for those of you who have ties to the Invasion of Plattsburg (one of the most important battles ever fought on American soil because of its ramifications) Col. David G. Fitz-Enz has written a fantastic book, THE FINAL INVASION, which will be the definitive work on that most decisive battle that secured our newly won independence from the Mother Country. Copies can be located via the internet, I'm sure. Another great site on the battle is at http://www.historiclakes.org/Plattesburg/Macomb2.htm ASA BLANCHARD of Vermont, my wife's ancestor was with Captain Warren Ellis' Company, according to the Roster of Vermont Soldiers in that war. I have a Bounty Land Warrant application from the State of Vermont. I know this is he, as his widow, Lydia, is named. He was born in Sturbridge, MA, and moved to Barre, VT. There is a listing of AMOS BLANCHARD in that book, also, and Asa had a son by that name, age 22. This Amos was in Capt Walker's Company, Col. Fifield's Regt. of Detached Militia. They volunteer to go to Plattsburg and served 7 days in Capt. Frederick Griswold's Company. I can't seem to find any document that proves this Amos is my wife's ancestor, though. Anyone out there have any of these folks in their files? I would sure like to know more of the details of these companies' activities in the battle.
