    3. Salt Lake LDS Library has films of these Pension and Bounty Application files. Allllll pension papers (sometimes up into the 'teens) are there for you to see. You can rent these films by going to your nearest LDS Family History Library and for a fee of $6 per film they will send to Salt Lake for this film (and others if you wish). This is worth the money as the military pension/bounty land files have great and detailed information. Besides the huge regional libraries, most every city/town has at least one LDS Stake (church) that also has a FH room dedicated to family research. These rooms not only have an experienced volunteer to help, but they offer computers that access Ancestry.com and more, film readers, microfiche and film or paper copiers. Makes researching pure pleasure. I believe on the Familysearch.com website these facilities are listed. I am not Mormon but go each week for a few hours to the local room to research -- often with a few other locals also persuing their passion for family history. The local Yellow Pages may also list these rooms. Good hunting.
