It appears my ancestor, William Scott, served as a private with this regiment in 1812. I suspect he may have been killed in one of their actions in 1814. The date and place I have been given with regard to his death is 21 January (or February) 1814. His place of burial is thought to be Greenbush, Rensselaer Co. NY. I have not been able to verify the previous information. I have sent for William's pension file and for the land bounty documents but while I wait for this information to arrive I would like to learn as much as possible about the 13th US Infantry, NY. I've had a look at a few sites using Google but it would seem that there isn't a great deal to find. I thought there might be a more definitive source that someone could recommend. Thanks. I just received the War of 1812 Military Service Record for my ancestor, James F. Gardner, who served under Capt. M. D. Danvers, 29th US Infantry. Gardner was at Whitehall and Plattsburgh, where he was discharged. I still have not been able to find any information on this 29th Regiment and if anyone could help, it would be appreciated. I was a little disappointed with what I received from NARA - it was not his actual record, but a transcribed alphabetical list of soldiers.
