    3. Is there anyone on the List who lives in and/or near the Archives who can get copies of a military record? If so, e-mail me with costs etc., and I'll send what I need copies of. Thank you. Antoinette (Tacoma, Washington)

    3. There are Military payroll films and Pension applications, etc. available via the LDS at Salt Lake. Don't panic...These films are available to rent out and be sent to local Family History Centers - which centers, believe it or not, are located in most cities or towns (for sure Tacoma, Washington). You can find both the cities and towns that have these research rooms through the Yellow Pages, through 411-Information, or via www.FamilySearch.com for locations. These films rent for about $6.00 each which, for what research you can do minutes from home, is well worth the small investment. I am not a member of the LDS but am a once-a-week researcher at the local LDS Research room where they have computers which access Ancestry.com and more, have readers, microfiche machines, reference books and best of all an experienced volunteer. As mentioned, they also have access to thousand of films. Try it, you'll like it!
