My 4xgreat-grandfather Thomas IRWIN was a guard at McPherson's Blockhouse during the War of 1812, maybe Champaign Co., OH. Can anyone explain what the "guard" is? Like National Guard? Any advice appreciated, I am still learning! Shari in Ohio
