There was an official return of the bodies to US soil arranged between the two governments (Canada and the US). There would be US soldiers buried at York (now Toronto) possibly at St. James cemetary, Lundy's Lane (though most were burned for health reasons), Chippawa (noted buried in shallow graves were they laid with a single battlefield marker), Fort George, Fort Erie, perhaps Queenston Heights, etc. It's a big question that others may be able to augment an answer. Trevor Hamilton (of this list) may have more details on St. James in Toronto though.
