The book: 'Report of the Adjutant General of the State of Kentucky Soldiers of the War of 1812', Frankfort, 1891, has 8 men listed with the name John Foster and one Jonathan Foster. None were officers and the county of service is not stated. John Foster I need some guidence in determining if my John Foster served in the War of 1812. I don't have much information, but I am certain that during that time period he would have been in Virginia or Kentucky. He was born ca 1779 in Virginia and married in 1801 in Wythe Co., Virginia. Some time after that he moved his family to Kentucky (possibly Wayne County). Several children were born in Kentucky with the family finally settling in McMinn Co., Tennessee. John died in 1857 and a brief mention of him in the local newspaper referred to him as "Col. John Foster". Any help will be appreciated.
