    3. Hi, I have an ancestor who served in the War of 1812 from Oct. 31, 1814 to June 19, 1815 in Capt. Taylor's Company, 30th Inf. He lived in Vermont or New York. Is there a way to find out if he received a pension for his service? New York has such a book, but I do not know about Vermont. Where would I find out more information about the 30th Infantry? 3. There is a Captain James Taylor who was in the 30th US from April 30, 1813 to June 15, 1815. He is listed in 'State of Vermont. Roster of Soldiers in the War of 1812-14', Adjutant General of Vermont, 1933. The 30th US Infantry was at LaColle Mill and Plattsburg. 'Index to War of 1812 Pension Files', 3 vols. Waynesboro, TN. National Historical Publishing Co., 1989, by Virgil D. White. Books have information and file numbers on those that applied for pension. Most big libraries have the set.
