    2. A friend asked this question: I know that in September 1813, after the American naval victory on Lake Erie, Tecumseh was shot and killed and that after the battle Kentucky militiamen skinned and mutilated his body. It was reported that Tecumseh was buried in a mass grave near the battlefield. Recently I was doing research and ran across a 1906 article in the local paper stating that Tecumseh (or at least part of him) was buried in the garden of Carlyle House.  Do any of you recall hearing that his body parts may have been spirited away as souvenirs?  I think it is unlikely that parts of him are buried here but I thought it would be fun to explore it.  In the unlikely event that it happened to be true it would give Carlyle House a link to War of 1812 and some publicity.  If any of you have heard about this possibility let me know.
