    3. Hello, I'm new to the list so forgive me if I am making a mistake in my request. I am doing Genealogy Research for William HOWE born abt. 1780-1790 NC. I have verified William HOWE found on the 1830 Census of Benton Co. tn. as my husband's gggrandfather. William is our brick wall. He has a land grant in TN. I have only found an occupancy deed in Benton Co. Tn. fellow researchers and I believe his property in Tn. was given for Military service. another researcher has found : a William HOWE, private under Capt Jones Griffin, Col. S  Bunch, East Tennessee       Drafted Militia How could I find a Muster Roll ? Can I find a military record for this William Howe without having to go through the national archives and paying the 37.00 fee ? I don't mind paying the fee if this is Our William Howe.. I have never researched any military records so any help or advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.. thank you for your time, Karen Howe

    3. In Pennsylvania I was able to find a muster roll for my ancestor at the State Archives. You may be able to check the Tennessee or North Carolina State Archives for the same. I requested Bounty Land Application papers from the National Archives, I don't think it costs as much as military records, and it may help verify what regiment he was in and where he was at time of enlistment.
