    3. Their was a Capt. Laval at the battle of New Orleans. Not the one in 2005 1814. I have never found a list of those that were there. I have a RUBEN OXLEY that join in 1812 in Lenoir Co.& served with him at NO. Be interest if you ever find any info. I believe my great-great-great grandfather, Charles Stuart, served with them. Any information on the regiment and/or him would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Where did your Charles Stuart live and serve? Do you know his parents' or sibling names? My gggg grandmother Temperance Stuart was born circa 1750's, I believe born in Stamford, CT or Mansfield, CT, and married Ezekiel Newman. Their married life was in Bedford, Westchester Co., NY and later they moved to Tioga Co., NY near the PA border. They died in that area. Any bells ring there? Although a record is shown for him on Ancestry.com and there is mention of his service in the book called The History of Coos County, Town of Lancaster, today I received a letter from the National Archives in Washington saying that they were unable to locate a file on him. Can anyone help explain the discrepancy - where do I go from here? Also where does Ancestry.com get their information from?? Thanks for any help you can give me.
