Thanks Patrick, I just got back from the archives. I have all of the Drowns but Mijcajah. I corresponded in the past with a descendant of his. I am looking for anything in files that help identify my families or rule out a person. In attempt to identify the missing sons of Wm Drown, I started going through all the Drown civil war pension files of men from NY, PA, Mi, Wisc, Mo and Iowa. I got about half way through. I also have Arantus Everts pension file. from the War of 1812. He was high ranking and served on some council .He lived in the Hector area of NY. Also from that area was a Joseph Gillespie who was killed in the battle of Lewiston. He was a Rev veteran and his bounty land was the area where Burdet in Hector, Schuyler county is located. I also have some Joseph and Samuel Hyatts pension files that I am trying to identify. Am I right in assuming that the Wm. Downs does not have a pension file Thanks again everyone, Marilyn Bess ----- Original Message ----- From: " Patrick" <Patrick20@comcast.net> To: "Marilyn Bess" <bess@penn.com> Sent: Monday, December 05, 2005 3:49 PM Subject: Re: [WARof1812] Swift's and Dobbins Regiment (1814), New York Vols. > Marilyn > The only Drown names appearing in the pension files are( Aaron; Infantry, > state?)( Benjamin; Virginia,)( Gilbert; NY,)(Micajah; New > Hampshire, )(Moses; New Hampshire,)( Samuel; New Hampshire, )(Ezra; New > Hampshire) > Patrick > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Marilyn Bess" <bess@penn.com> > To: <WARof1812-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Monday, December 05, 2005 12:27 PM > Subject: Re: [WARof1812] Swift's and Dobbins Regiment (1814), New York Vols. > > > >I believe the book does says Dobbins unit. there are several who later > > appear in Bradford,County, PA in the same unit. Marilyn There is a William Down with an old War pension file #IF25031 who served in Captn Opie's Company of the 5th US Infantry which answers your next Query question as to if Militia and US Infantry were covered in the pensions. Also found are those with no pensions received, but land received. Captn. Leroy Opie was born in Va and joined in Va. He was a 2Lt in 1808, 1Lt in 1809 and Captain 26 jun 1813. The 5th was formed of men mostly from Penn Patrick Cummings ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marilyn Bess" <bess@penn.com> To: <WARof1812-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, December 06, 2005 8:16 AM Subject: Re: [WARof1812] Swift's and Dobbins Regiment (1814), New York Vols. > Thanks Patrick, I just got back from the archives.
