According to family members Samuel Hunter was a Cherokee Indian. But I have not been able to confirm this. This is my set of Hunter's. Sarah Lousia Cunningham in 1819 in Warren County, Tenn. (My great great great grandparents) During the War of 1812, Samuel Hunter served as a private in Captain Douglass' company, Tennessee Militia. His term of enlistment was from 25 Jan 1814 to 10 May 1814. His military group (under Col Copeland) was at the Battle of Horseshoe bend, but was keep in reserve.
