    3. I have found in a History of Fitzwilliam, N.H. that my Gggrandfather Dexter Fisk served in the war of 1812. How do I find out more information on him, is there a list someplace of those who served. He had lived in Mass. before moving to N.H. and then lived in Vt. so I am not sure even which State he may have been living when he served. Thank you for any help. Janice

    2. Hi Morita, Something you might want to look into is the possibility when your soldier was signed up for the war, his given name and/or surname may have been mispelled and if so that is what would be on the records at NARA. I your person of interest was alive in 1840 and filed for pensions, the below URL will take you to website of "1840 Census of Pensioners-Revolutionary War or Military Services". Included are pensioners of War of 1812. Each state is provided. FYI -there was also the 1835 census year for pensioners. 1. 2nd Regiment Lincoln Militia muster rolls on microfilm?
    2. J. Kuchta
    3. Hello All, My area of interest is the VANDERBURGH family of Thorold Township, Welland County. I've been trying to find whether muster rolls of the 2nd Regiment Lincoln Militia circa 1812 exist on microfilm for Captain Kerby's Company. I tried consulting the "C" Series from the National Archives but only found the 4th Regiment. Would anyone know if or where I can find the muster rolls for the 2nd Regiment? The only information I have at present comes from the book "Jubilee History of Thorold Township and Town." In that book are all kinds of muster rolls but I would like to see the original source and obtain a photocopy if possible. The book doesn't seem to identify the exact source. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks kindly! J. Kuchta ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca

    3. Anotoinette, Without going into real detail, you are located very close to a source of records that should answer all of your questions. (Well none of us will ever have ALL of our questions answered. Smile) If you take that information to the National Archives in Seattle (Sand Point near the Children's Hospital) they can help you. They are very helpful. If you can go on a week day it's less crowed. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Antoinette Waughtel Sorensen" <waughtel@oz.net> To: <WARof1812-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, March 22, 2003 7:54 AM Subject: LOOK UP QUESTION > I have found 3 ancestors names as serving in the War of 1812 and since I am not familiar with the resource given I would like to know what the American-Genealogical-Biographical Index (AGBI) is, and if anyone has access to this resource, if they would be kind enough to check this for me. WAR HISTORY FORUM Barbara Bush Library 6817 Cypresswood Drive Spring Texas 77379 281 376 4610 Saturday March 15th 2003 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon Presented by Flora Newby Floranewby@charter.net 281 353 4226 Looking forward to a wonderful meeting to be held at Barbara Bush Library to discuss and share history of the Wars that our great country has been involved in. Documenting your loved ones experiences has been very difficult, due to the fire that swept away records in 1973,perhaps I can offer some insight into that problem. My father, Allen Newby, was with the 82nd A/B during WW II, my mother Jeanne Varney served our country as a WAC in WW II.My husband, Marcus Cherry, served in the Viet Nam War, for two tours of duty, volunteering and retired an E-8 turbulent times, but our men and women served and did their duty. My cousin, Gary Newby, is on the Viet Nam Memorial Wall.My niece and nephew are currently serving overseas, somewhere, representing our family in this war, in the Air Force. At our last meeting we had the pleasure of meeting L."Little" Bennett Fenberg who shared his experiences with the 163rd Signal Photography, Who was there at the Battle of Cassino, hunkered down shooting a film of the artillery. L. B. was with 101st A/B when they captured the Eagles Nest.He had our audience completely captivated. Photographed Audie Murphy when he received the Medal of Honor. Or in the Pacific Mr. Warren Kerrington who served on the USS Frost DE144 and is writing penning to memorialize the ship he served on known as "The U Boat Killer". Mr. J F Kidd who was held prisoner by the Japanese after Mac Arthur left the Philippines and is penning his memories in a book called "Twice Forgotten". Mr. Ralph Allgood who was aboard the ship Rohna, that was sunk with 1200 Americans, and allies at sea.11-26 1943 by a "Glide Bomb". The burning ship sinks, and, when the smoke clears, 1135 troops and crew have died. The images of burned and damaged bodies are a horror that will remain etched on survivors and rescuers alike. One of the least-known weapons of WW-II has just inflicted the greatest American death toll on any ship that went down. I am extending an invitation to anyone who has an interest and also to any veteran from any war To please commit to our little meeting, one of which I would like to develop into monthly discussions. God bless you all, God Bless our President, and our great country. Best Regards Flora Newby
