    1. 27th Reg. U.S. Infantry
    2. Quenci
    3. I have checked the list of soldiers that fought in the War of 1812 and have noticed that there is a 26th Reg. and a 28th Reg. but no 27th Reg. of the U.S. Infantry. My g-g-g grandfather was a Captain of that Regiment. My g-g-g grandmother Harriet A. Reynolds gave a sworn affidavit on January 12th, 1838 that Allen C, Reynolds was a Captain of the 27th Reg. of the U.S. Infantry. Inscribed on pension llst roll of N.Y. Agency. He was to receive $20.00 per month to commence on June 12, 1815. Signed to George Graham, Acting Secretary of War. Does anyone know where I can find the 27th Reg. of the Infantry of the War of 1812 records.? Perhaps it just hasn't been added to the list as yet. There must have been a 27th Reg. It just stand to reason if there was a 26th and a 28th that there must havea been a 27th. Could the records have been lost? Any information would be appreciated. Sincerely, L.Scott quenci@sbcglobal.net

    3. There is a Joshua LaDue living in Portland, NY, who was awarded a claim of $80 from the War of 1812 based on depreciation of clothing and equipment he used. This claim is indexed as number 1229 in the New York Adjutant General's Office report, "Index of Awards on Claims of the Soldiers of the War of 1812." According to information, "The original declarations of claims from which the index was compiled are on file in the Bureau of War Records maintained by the Division of Military and Naval Affairs, Public Security Building, Albany, New York, 12206. The declaration indicates the claimants name and military grade, inclusive period of service and land warrant, if any, granted as a result of his service." This may be worth pursuing. He stated he went from Cayuga County to Buffalo and then was transferred to Captain Ely's (Eily's) Company. After one month he was discharged at Seven Mile Creek. He said he could not remember his Colonel's name, and his discharge was lost. 2nd Term: 5 Aug 1814 - 8 November 1814 In August the same year (1814) he was drafted as a sergeant (I'm sure again at Cayuga County) and went again to Buffalo under Captain Whittlesy, he thought his Lieutenant's name was Richison. His Militia Colonel was Brooks. After the battle at Fort Erie he was taken sick and given furlough to go home.
