Did William listed here ever go to Randolph? Or have a son Richard? Francis Wire died in 1779, but he had an Uncle named Francis who may have had a son named Francis. I have no info on the status of the name on that line or the Francis which you mention, who died during the Rev. War. Please forward me that info. Observe the following notation of a name change of McGuire to Wire from Chalkley.] CHRONICLES OF THE Scotch-Irish Settlement IN VIRGINIA EXTRACTED FROM THE ORIGINAL COURT RECORDS OF AUGUSTA COUNTY 1745-1800 ABSTRACTS OF WILLS OF AUGUSTA COUNTY, VIRGINIA. WILL BOOK NO. V. ADDITIONAL MEMBERS OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. page 128 Page 73.--10th September, 1772. Paul Shaver's estate appraised by Francis Wire (McGuire), Joseph Crouch, Conrad Good. Francis McGuire is known to have settled in the Tygerts Valley close to Morgantown. I would say it is highly probable that Randolph County is involved because a Solomon marriage record is in Randolph Co. WV. Francis had children Benjamin, Daniel, Solomon and John. The other three were married in Randolph County. I have descendants of John and probably Daniel, but only have minimal data on the other two sons. This is all in very early stages of research. My previous letter lists the location of many of the relatives. If anyone has any information on these individuals please contact me. Take care.
