Roxanne, You should be able to find the State that he was born in from the census records. James WARE was the husband of Caroline PERKINS and they had 14 children. Eight of the 14 children were alive at the time James filed for pension. (12 of the 14 children have been documented) James states in his Civil War Pension File that he lived all his life in Louisiana. (Personally, I question this statement.) Caroline states in her Civil War Widow's Pension File that her husband is buried at Ten Mile Creek Grove Cemetery(in Rapides/Allen Parish). Caroline is buried at GoodHope Cemetery(in Beauregard Parish) and states widow, death May 26, 1917, per her death certificate. Caroline Perkins' line has been well documented with her father being William "Willis" Perkins and her mother being Olive Sweat. > >SOME Census information: >1860 LA Census in Rapides, James age is 28 and listed as a farmer with Caroline and 5 children. >1870 LA Census in Rapides(West Ward), James age is 40 and listed as a farmer with Caroline and 9 children, BUT he is listed in the Household of Henry TUCKER, age 55, who is listed as a School Teacher. >(????Why was the family listed in the household of Henry TUCKER????) >1880 LA Census in Rapides (Calcasieu Ward), James age is 49 and listed with Caroline and 6 children. >1900 LA Census in Rapides(Calcasieu Ward)...his eldest son James & Caroline named John"Jack" Ware has his father & mother's birthplace listed as Georgia on this census. >(????James place of birth is just one of many unanswered questions?????) >***James & Caroline's children can me found on most LA Census with spouses listed in marriages..... >Almost all his children were married in Rapides Parish, LA and documents can be found at the courthouse in Alexandria, LA. One clue may be in the marriages of his daughters Mary, Arnetta, Nancy and a granddaughter Susie(daughter of James' s eldest son John)...these ladies all married Droddy men. Two other daughers Martha, Lavinia and a son named Alford married Ashworth. His eldest son John and a son named nicknamed Willis married a Mancil women. NOTE: James & Caroline had two sons with the first name of William...one was nicknamed Willis(thought to be named after Caroline's father) and the other was William Alford, they called him Alford. > >Due to various courthouse fires before the 1900's...a lot of information has been lost. What sources are available to the public, have not been able to confirm the parents of James WARE. Another very valuable source of information is a FAMILY BIBLE...anyone with access to a family bible belonging to one of the children of James WARE, if available, PLEASE post the information within the BIBLE on the boards. > >Per other postings by LA researchers on message boards...additional information on James and Caroline's family can be found on the children of James WARE and their children. > >ANYONE with additional information on James Ware or knowledge of his parents, >PLEASE email F340@aol.com...your information or knowledge will be greatly appreciated. >AND, I am sure other researchers will appreciate any postings to the parents of James WARE that may aid them in their research. > >Thanks, Roxanne > > > >
