There are essentially two categories of GenConnect Boards: Family Association (Surname) and Region (County) Regardless of category, the boards themselves are the same. Here are some handy URL's to have: World Visitor Center and index <http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/qindex.html> This is an index to all the countries included in the project. Click on USA to get an index of all the States in the project and then on the State to see all counties. Surname Index <http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/indx/FamAssoc.html> This is an index to all surnames included in the project. GenConnect Visitor's Center Posting Hints: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/HINTS/index.html This is an overview of the GenConnect Boards and how to post. Please vist before posting. Some of these boards have queries only but many include some or all of the following: Bible Records, Biographies, Deeds, Wills, Pension Applications, Obituaries. Most allow posting by anyone. Please see the following message from Nancy Trice, one of the GenConnect coordinators: ========<snip>======================================== The problems that so many of you are having with posting/editing/deleting messages is beyond our control. First is the internet itself... this time of year all the people that got new computers for Christmas are coming onto the net... this happens every year. We'll probably see things get better in a month or two as the servers upgrade their systems etc. We will be moving everything to a new bigger/faster server ourselves this weekend and that should help some. In addition to all the new users, we also have seen a lot of bad weather over the past week or so and I'm sure that has affected things as well with phone and power lines down. The 'Document contains no data' errors usually means that the net or server is busy and your browser gets tired of waiting for the page you requested to be loaded. Try again later. The best time if possible is during the morning hours while kids are in school and parents are at work. ;-) ========<snip>======================================== -- John E Cain; 4601 Concord Drive; Garland, TX 75042 http://www.rootsweb.com/~msamite/index.htm -----Amite County MS http://www.rootsweb.com/~jecain/index.htm ----Cain/Ware list and My Website.
