Dear Ware-L list, and Pat and Robin, >"James N. Ward served as a 2nd Lt., 3rd Infantry. Although he was >wounded at the Battle of Cerro Gordo, he survived the Mexican War. >He received a brevet to 1st Lieutenant for meritorious service at Cerro >Gordo. Ward was promoted to 1st Lt., 3rd Infantry, Mar 5, 1851; and >Capt., Sept 28, 1857. He died at age 35 in 1858." Does this look familiar to anyone? I need James N. Ward's hometown. I believe he went to West Point (US Military Academy) and graduated in about 1846 with his classmate, Henry Boynton Clitz. My gggrandfather, Matthew Green was his subordinate officer. -- Tim mailto:[email protected] Researching MCCLINTOCK, ARMSTRONG, GREEN, all of Irish descent, especially County Tyrone (MCCLINTOCK, ARMSTRONG) and Co.
