Dear Kay and List, I saw your post on the Wilder book, and decided to send in my information. I am descended from Zachariah Hester WARE, son of Allen WARE( b. 1801/03 in S.C.), and grandson of William WARE and Hetty ELLIS. Zachariah WARE was listed on the 1860 census for Tallapoosa County, Alabama. He was married to Faith/Faithie MEADOWS. They were both born in Georgia. My WARE line is through Zachariah's daughter, Mary Susan WARE, who married Joseph Henry SLATON. My g-grandmother was their daughter, Hattie Lou SLATON. This particular branch of the WARE family still live in Autauga County, Alabama. I am 51 years old, and live in New York State, but I still remember going to the country, and visiting this branch of my family with my aunts, grandmother, and g-grandmother. They had a pump in the kitchen, and a bucket and a dipper on the side porch. That house is now a rental, but a WARE still owns it. I would love to hear from anyone researching this line.
