    1. for those searching AR Ware's...
    2. Hi fellow WARE searchers... If your WARE family ended up in Lawrence County, Arkansas (or as early as when it was part of the Missouri Territory and then the Arkansas Territory!), you might want to read this will and see if perhaps it helps tie together any loose connections you might have. My line follows down through Joseph Ware, the first son listed in Samuel's will... >From "Lawrence County, Arkansas Will Book, 1817 - 1834", compiled by Dr. Marion Stark Craig: page 7 of the book listed above... Page 22-23 [of the Will Book]: (?) January 1817 - Last Will & Testament of Samuel Ware I, Samuel Ware, of the County of Lawrence and Territory of Missouri, being of sound mind and memory, have determined to make this my Last Will and Testament in manner following. That is to say, Item, I give and bequeath unto my beloved son, Joseph Ware, and to my daughter Frances Ware, also my daughter, Polly Ware, my son, William Ware, also my son, Erastes Ware, and my daughter, Nancy Ware, also my son, Jefferson Ware, all my property real and personal of whatever kind, I will and devise to my above named children to be equally divided amongst them. Nevertheless, all those devises are not to be made until after my wife's death but to be kept together for the benefit of my said children. In case my wife, Sally Ware, should marry again, these devises are then to take place and my wife to have a child's part. I also appoint my son, Joseph Ware, executor of this my Last Will and Testament and do revoke all other wills heretofore made. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this (?) day of January 1817. (signed) Samuel Ware Witnesses: Moses Graham Natt Dickerson William Linn Proved in open court on 4 November 1818 by Moses Graham and William Linn. Richard Searcy, Clerk Recorded April 4, 1818 - Richard Searcy, Clerk. (Note by MSC: These are the exact dates as shown. However, there is clearly an error. I believe the recording year should be 1819 and not 1818.) Also, from "Early Arkansas Residents 1814 - 1816 Tax Lists of the Counties of Arkansas and Lawrence in the Territory of Missouri", compiled by Dr. Marion Stark Craig...page 28: Samuel Ware (spelled WEAR in 1815), is shown as paying taxes in 1815 and 1816 in Lawrence County. He was not in the area in the 1814 list. Also listed in this book are: Joseph Ware, paying taxes in Lawrence County in 1816 John Weir (also spelled Weare), paying taxes in Arkansas County in 1816. I hope that this will help someone out there...I know it did me! Now if we can just figure out when and why Samuel came to Arkansas in the early 1800's...! Happy Rooting!
