Hello I am trying to break down one of my brickwalls. My 3rd Great Grandmother is Jane Ware, however all I have on her at present is she married a Henry Dowker at St Olave Church, York in the August 1822, looking at the age on the marriage documents she would have been born around 1802. Consent to marriage was given by her mother Elizabeth. When married they settle in the Stonegrave area of Yorkshire. Any information on the Ware family from York(shire) around this time would be helpful. Thank you in advance Mike Jones Gorseinon, Swansea ~ South Wales Glamorgan ~ Jones, Hinder, Poley, Probyn, Rees, Jenkins, John Pembrokeshire ~ John, Morris, Phillips, Davies Somerset ~ Saxon, Hill, Conran, Hooper London ~ Saxon, Hooper, Kidwell Cheshire / Shropshire ~ Jones Yorkshire ~ Dowker, Ware Devon ~ Hinder New Zealand ~ Saxon India ~ Conran Glamorgan / Cleveland & Nth Yorkshire FHS
Sir James Ware's line is well documented & did not have any children or grandchildren to migrate to the U.S. and I don't think Christopher was ever Knighted. I have researched Peter Ware's line for 20 yrs. & as yet have not found any documentation as to who his parents were. My Asa Ware was born in Burlington, NJ on 12 Sept 1755. He had 12 children and is found moving to Mahoning County in 1810 in Hinshaw's American Encyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy vol 4 pgs 783/784. Amos, Asa Jr. and Sarah are 3 of his children. I think his father was John Ware and Mother Sarah Buffin. Richard
Hi Helen, I have done extensive research in OH, PA & WV with some IA & MO and I am currently starting MD due to leads on my Wear / Weir / Ware line. My research in other states is limited to my knowledge of families that migrated into my primary research area. My Weird Family Tree database is the result of my research into my own line. Sorry but I am not much help in states other than those mentioned. -- Take care. Jerry The Wolfs Den <http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jlwear/>
Hi, Do you happen to know if the N.J. WARE families were from Glouster? In the old notes I have from WARE family it says see early Glouster history and I have searched MA. and R,I, without success now I see it could be N.J. as along with my George there was Amos and ASA. My WARE line to father of Thomas Jefferson WARE 's father ARCHIBALD is proven but am having trouble with documentation any further back than 1763 here in Ma. Do you have any data or ideas on any of this? Many thanks, Helen F. Hi, I do not have any concrete ties to your WARE's but my line goes back in Ma. and my g.g.g.grandfather Thomas Jefferson WARE left Ma. and went to Steubenville, Oh. I don't have exact date but it was before 1844 as his dau. Caroline was b. in Steubenville in 1844. He and his wife #1. Phebe HATHAWAY had ch. Henry b. 1834; William b. ?; Frederick b. abt. 1832; Nathaniel b. 1837 and James B. b. 15 Aug. 1839 (I believe all of these were b. in Holliston, Middlesex, Ma.) Henry (my direct line) came back to MA. as did Caroline but I have no info on the others. When wife #1. died Thomas m. Phoebe GRIEVES in Steubenville but he d. in 1852 so not a long marriage as his first wife d. in 1850. The reason your post caught my eye was in ref,. to Thomas J.'s father Archibald the is an Asa and Amos with ? mark near his name in old Ware papers, I do not know why or if even of any value. But perhaps you can find something of interest to help. Thomas J. WARE b. Oakham,Worcester, Ma. 31 July 1801 his parents; Archibald WAERS/WAER/WAIR/WARE(depending on which records you view) and Lavinia HAZEN.
