Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/JYVBAIB/1300.1.1 Message Board Post: Fran, I just found this letter on a film and I am not related to the Ware family. I looked up Robert Garrett Ware and he was apparently the son of Robert Alexander Ware, who was the son of Nicholas Ware and Dolly Garrett, who are mentioned in this letter. Whoever wrote the letter (in the mid-1900's probably) said that the Henry who married Martha Garrett was known to be a brother of Nicholas, but I found information which said that Henry was a relative, but not his brother. I don't know. Robert Garrett Ware was born in SC and married in Lincoln Co. GA. This letter was written as a family history by someone, but some of it may be wrong. I certainly found that some old family stories in my family were wrong. Pattie

    1. [WARE] Arminta Green Ware - James "Collie" Ware of Ragley, Beauregard Parish, Louisiana
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Ware, Cooley, Green, Harrison, Adams, Phillips, Coleman, and Foulks (?) Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/JYVBAIB/1303 Message Board Post: My g-grandfather, James "Collie" (Collen) Ware (b 16 Feb, 1860 d. 3 Apr, 1948 ), along with my g-grandmother, Arminta Green Ware (b. 3 Jun, 1864, d. 14 Oct, 1932 ), were early settlers of Ragley, Louisiana ( Beauregard Parish ). Our family is seeking information on both their parents. G-grandfather's brother, John Ware, later joined Collie in settling in Beauregard Parish. We do not know when they came, but estimate Grandpa Collie Ware arrived between 1879 - 1881. G-grandpa married Arminta Green or Greene who was raised by John Mitchell. It is believed her birth was in Texas. They had the following children: Sons - Merideth "Meridy", Henry "Carl", and my grandfather, Robert Napoleon Ware ( b 12 Mar, 1892 -d. 1965 ); and Daughters - Annie (Foulks ?), Susie (Adams), Ryncie (Phillips), and Sarah (Barentine). We are stumped... any help would be appreciated... I do know that G-grandpa Collie's brother, John married Pearl Martin. They had two sons, Earl and William ("Bob"), and lived in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. My grandfather, Robert Napoleon Ware, married Sina Maybelle Cooley, and raised their family in Ragley, Beaurregard Parish, LA. Their children were: Hugh, Myrtis (Coleman), Winifred (Jones), Lois (Giltner), Lillian (Edwards, Harrison), and Lela Mae (Van Winkle, Dewberry). They also raised Hazel Cooley (Ferris). My grandmother's brother, William Madison Cooley, lived with them until his death in May, 1955, just two days prior to my grandmother's death.

His name was Robert Napoleon Ware and my g-grandfather was James "Collie" Ware (mid name was Colin or Colen - my middle name is Colon, a misspelling of his...). Grandpa Collie and his brother John came from Mississippi (we believe Meridian area) and settled in SW La., specifically, in Beauregard Parish in and around Ragley/Longville/DeRidder. My grandfather, known as "Uncle Bob" was born in 1892 and married Sina Maybelle Cooley, "Aunt Mae", who was born in 1899. He had several brothers and sisters, among them Carl and Annie... I have not been able to locate James or John in the 1900 census info... I have other info if you like. Feel free to send on to me your info since I am searching around anyway... I use genealogy.com and rootsweb primarily... My mother was Lillian Ware and her only brother was Hugh Ware who lived in Ragley, La and was a school board member there for years. I have a host of Ware cousins in Beauregard Parish... surnames include Coleman, Jones, Ware, Giltner, and Harrison (Calcasieu Parish). I live in the Dallas area. Again, feel free to contact me. Mike

I do not know if Willie Ware was born in Texas or not. I believe she could have passed away in Arizona. 3. Patti, Could you possibly tell us the film # and title of the film. This would help for those of us who would like to view this film and make a copy of this information. Also, what repository or library did you find the film at, in case we need to use the interlibrary loan system? I am very interested in this. 3. My connection is William Arthur Ware, b. Spet. 1859, in VA. Do any of your William's fit this? I am at a brick wall. This William went to MO, not sure just when. But, he married my grandmother in Greenvile, MO in 1891. I cannot find where in VA he was born, but hopefully someday some one will connect. I am sure, sometime he must have been married before he married my grandmother. He was in his 30's by that time. Mildred Ware Legg mildredl@juno.com
