Would like to know all information on Parthula Wear. She was born ca 1862-1864 in Lampasas or San Saba County, Texas, and is believed to be the daughter of John Williamson Wear and Mary Jane Jenkins (or Jennings). On the 1870 Lampasas County, TX census, Parthula Wear (age 6) is shown to be in the household of James T. Jenkins in Lampasas County, along with Mary Jane Wear, who is presumed to be her mother. In some documents, Parthula is referred to a "D.A." Wear. I would like to know everything I can about her...death, marriage and/or children. It is believed she lived with Mary Jane Wear until Nov 1902 when Mary Jane died. Parthula would be my cousin. Sandy Sturdivant [email protected]
I am looking for all information on James H. Weir (might also be spelled Ware or Wear) of Cooper County, Missouri. He was on the 1830 Cooper County, Missouri census as living next door to Finis E. Weir, James L. Weir, and John Weir. He may also have been the James H. Weir who married Ruth B. Beach, 29 Sep 1844 in St. Louis, Missouri. It is believed he was born 7 October 1806 in Christian County, Kentucky. I would very much like to know if he is my missing ancestor uncle. Sandy Sturdivant [email protected]

Hi, I am looking for any information on: WEAR, James, b. 7 Oct 1806 in Christian County, KY. Parents were John Wear, b. 1780 in Chester County, SC, and Mary "Polly" Burns, b. ca. 1786 in SC. James Wear (also spelled Weir) was alive on the 1810 Christian County, KY census, and he was still alive in 1816 (I have the John Wear Bible), but the family moved to Cooper County, MO in 1819. There was no census for MO in 1820, as it was not a state until 1821. By 1830, James is a missing child from the John Wear family. We have no idea what became of him. I have a great deal of information on this Wear family I can share. I'm hoping someone can help me find James. Thanks, Sandy Sturdivant [email protected]

I am forwarding to all a message from Dr Brian Leverich who along with his wife, Karen Isaacson, own and operate the Rootsweb Data Cooperative. They supply the space for most USGenWeb County pages, Surname and County discussion lists without charge. They are supported by owner / sponsor contributions. See information at the end of the attached message if you should wish to join and help out. Thanks for your time. John E Cain. - Amite co MS, Cain & Ware discussion lists. ------<snip>------------------------------------------------------- Subject: RootsWeb in January -- 451,786,000,000 Bytes Served Resent-Date: Sun, 1 Mar 1998 19:47:07 -0800 (PST) Resent-From: [email protected] Date: Sun, 01 Mar 1998 19:42:03 -0800 From: Brian Leverich <[email protected]> To: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] I guess this is a new first -- we're posting the January statistics after, in principle, we could have computed the February statistics. Oh well. It's been *extremely* busy around here, dealing with the explosive growth and the many problems caused by the El Nino storms. The executive summary is that we had about 33% growth during just the month of January: o 27,751,946 Web files (20,835,802 in Dec) from 2,400 Websites (2,240 in Dec). - 8,308,561 were HTML pages (not images or cgi-bin) (5,903,137 in Dec). - 3,574,701 were cgi-bin database searches and such. (2,911,509 in Dec). - 15,784,790 were GIFs (14,529,204) or JPEGs (1,255,586) (11,849,905 in Dec were GIFs (10,902,627) or JPEGs (947,279). o 618,762 FTP file downloads from the USGenWeb Archives and the ROOTS-L Library (472,838 in Dec). o Thanks to a neat hack by Tim Pierce, we know we shipped about 88,649,000 pieces of mail to the 2,600+ (2,300 in Dec) mailing lists we host. o 60,000 alt.g and s.g.* Usenet News articles to hosts on three continents (same as Dec). o Approximately 451,786,000,000 bytes in total (321,408,000,000 in Dec). Besides adding hundreds of new Websites and mailing lists in January, we also added new servers and a third and fourth T1 connection to the Internet. (A T1 is about 50 times faster than a standard modem.) These additions have significantly increased our costs of operation, but they were essential if we were to continue to properly support the Internet genealogical community. As always, RootsWeb remains supported by user contributions. Folks who would like to become a RootsWeb Member or Sponsor (the cost is very modest) are invited to visit: http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/how-to-subscribe.html *** You can become a Member easily using your credit card and our new secure server. *** Now is a particularly good time for folks to join, because we have had a huge increase in utilization since Christmas. Our bandwidth rate has jumped from 321 to 451 gigabytes/month, and we're having to do numerous upgrades to our servers to support the load. Your membership can help our capacity keep up with the demands of the Internet genealogical community. Thanks to everyone who participates in RootsWeb -- clearly folks are continuing to exchanging a great deal of information! -B -- Dr. Brian Leverich Co-moderator, soc.genealogy.methods/GENMTD-L RootsWeb Genealogical Data Cooperative http://www.rootsweb.com/ P.O. Jerry Wear wrote: Hi Everyone, As most of you know, I have been on a sabbatical these last six months from the internet. The Wolf's Den is back but in a far more limited size. The Weird Family Tree database is back but it is limited to the following geographical areas: North Western WV, South Eastern PA, Ohio. It also includes some descendants of these families that migrated to IA. I am now limiting my research to these geographical areas, as these families include my own. The new URL is: http://members.tripod.com/~jlwear/ I have accumulated a lot of information on these families these few months and am getting more on a weekly basis. If you have pre-1900 weird ancestors who resided in this area, drop me a line. I will monitor this mail lists posts but this will be my only post. Take care. According to family tradition, these folks were English. Paralee/Pearlie lived in Fayette County, Kentucky. I've found other Wares in Central and South Central Kentucky in the relevant time frame, but haven't yet been able to locate Martha or identify her parents. Can anyone out there help me?
