Back then a name seemed to be able to be spelled anyway you wanted to. I know so very little about the Wares - except its a common middle name in the HOUSDEN line that I know a great deal about - and it shows up in the area of Western Tennessee and Kentucky were the Housdens also resided before the Civil War. Does anyone have any information on Betsey Weare who was born 10 Feb 1793 in Franconia, New Hampshire? Her birth record does not show her parents. She married Nathan Spooner 7 Dec 1815 in Franconia and died 13 Jul 1857 in Franconia. I have been searching for her parents for a couple of years now and haven't found anything. Brenda
I am trying to find more info on my g-g-grandfather Joseph Ware, the son of Thomas and Elixabeth Ware. He was born in England and died in Sodus, (Wayne Co.) New York in 1896. The death certificate gave his age as 96, but various census records made him younger by as much as 10 years. He was married to Mary Melissa Atwater. Any info would be appreciated. Diane Friis in Calif.
It has been awhile since I posted this. Harvey WARE married Elizabeth Crutchfield in 1839 in Clark Co Ky . His mother Lydia WARE signed permission for him to marry. Would like to know his father. Will share all his descendent information.............. <A HREF="http://www.genforum.com/ware/">Ware Family Genealogy Forum</A> Thought you all would like a good link if you haven't been here.
Looking for any information concerning Ezekiel Wear b1827 OH m. 1848 Pike Co.IL to Delilah Bowman. He died 1894 Adams Co., IL Contact [email protected]
Hello, I have an Ezekiel Ware from TN in my family tree who was born a little later in that century. Maybe there's a connection. Pam Louis
I am researching a family with the surname HOUSDEN. They migrated from Shenandoah County, Virginia in about 1818 to Williamson County, Tennessee. Then about 1851 they migrated to Henry County, Tennessee. One branch of this family stayed in the Henry County, Tennessee - Calloway County, Kentucky area (these are on opposite sides of the state line) In 1861 four of the young men of this family enlisted in the Confederate Army. The youngest, a lad by the name of Warry age 18 died in the battle of Island 10. In 1868 a nephew is born and is named William Wear Housden. I assume Warry is a diminutive of Wear. The Wear name as a middle name continues to this day. No one in this family has any idea of where the Wear name came from. The only information I have about Warry is his civil war records. He should have been born in about 1843 which would have made him be born somewhere in Middle Tennessee, probably Williamson, Davidson, or Wilson Counties, as the family was there 1818-1845. To my way of thinking Wear had to be a family name but I haven't got a clue where it fits into this family. If anyone has ANY idea of where this Wear name might have come from or how to make it fit into my Housden crew I'd be most appreciative if you could tell me. I am sending this posting to Roots-l as well.

Searching for ancestors and descendents of Richard Ware of Randolph Co. VA (now WV) Probably born in Maryland in mid 1700s.
I am searching for one Harry Edward Ware. They were in Surrey in 1939 listed as an electrian and later got a degree in math. His wife was Margaret! Lost track! Then found them in Manitoba in 1959/1960. Lost track of them again. Could only find one child named June M. Ware. Can anyone help me? Thank You kindly! Charlotte
Below is a message from Dr Brian Leverich, who with his wife, Karen Isaacson, own and operate Rootsweb Data Cooperative. Rootsweb supplies without charge web space for most of the USGenWeb county pages as well as most of the mailing lists. It is supported entirely by members and sponsors. If you would like to subscribe and help out, please see the message below. Thanks --------<snip>--------------------------------------------------- June was a hectic month at RootsWeb because we significantly upgraded our main Web server, at the cost of: o A lot of money o Several downs of the server o Lots of sleep missed, vats of coffee consumed and several stomach linings destroyed We also brought the new homepages.rootsweb.com server online, which will provide home pages for individual genealogists once we're satisfied with its operation. The executive summary is that RootsWeb had more than 20% absolute growth in the last four months, but that's deceptively low because of the downtime while we upgraded the main server. Here are the detailed statistics on our June operations: o 35,930,194 total Web hits: - 10,166,861 were HTML pages. - 6,010,657 were cgi-bin database searches and such. - 19,514,782 were graphics (gifs, jpegs, etc). o 779,280 FTP file downloads from the USGenWeb Archives and the ROOTS-L Library. o Thanks to a neat hack by Tim Pierce, we know we shipped more than 77,000,000 pieces of e-mail to our mailing lists. (The 77 million is actually much too low; we had to archive a significant amount of mail before the count because of a disk space crunch on one of the mail servers ... ) o 60,000 alt.g and s.g.* Usenet News articles to hosts on three continents. o Approximately 660,960,000,000 bytes in total. As always, RootsWeb remains supported by user contributions. Folks who would like to become a RootsWeb Member or Sponsor (the cost is very modest) are invited to visit: http://www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/how-to-subscribe.html *** You can become a Member easily using your credit card and our new secure server. *** Support from the Internet genealogical community is *crucial* to RootsWeb's operation. Right now, we could be hosting many more Websites and mailing lists as well as providing many further services to the community, if only we had the resources to do so. Also, we would like to publicly thank Palladium Interactive, publishers of the superb Ultimate Family Tree software, for their support of RootsWeb: http://www.palladium.net/ Thanks to everyone who participates in RootsWeb -- clearly folks are continuing to exchanging a great deal of information! -B -- Dr. Brian Leverich Co-moderator, soc.genealogy.methods/GENMTD-L RootsWeb Genealogical Data Cooperative http://www.rootsweb.com/ P.O. The recent P o r n message was received by most of the lists on rootsweb and has been reported. Rootsweb hackers are busy trying to determine the source and stop it. I would like to request that everyone please refrain from posting messages to the list regarding spam. I get copies of everything you do and a lot more that you don't see that has been intercepted by the rootsweb server. I report them all and the rootsweb people are working very hard to fine tune the filters to keep them ALL out and also complain directly to the source ISP when it can be determined. I realize that much of this stuff is offensive but posting messages to the list will just double and triple the traffic on the lists and interfere with legitimate messages. It also aids some of these sick people who just want to vandalize and interrupt the lists. Here are some things we all can do to stop spam: Write your congressman (or congresswoman) and ask for a law to make it illegal. Never, never, never reply directly or (heaven forbid) buy any of things advertised. The reply addresses are usually bogus and if nobody buys anything some of them will stop. Thanks for your time. I am a new member of the WARE list. As I have no WARE/WEIR ancestors, my reason for joining this list was to see if there are any descendants of the WEIRs from Clark County, Indiana on this list. I am the President of the Clark County Cemetery Preservation Committee. Our website is at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/5881. A subpage of that site is the WEIR Cemetery page at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/5881/weircem.html This cemetery is in pathetic condition and we are trying to find descendants of this line who will take the time to write a brief letter to: William E. Stewart Union Township Trustee 14213 Highway 31 Memphis, Tennessee 47143 and encourage Mr. Stewart in the nicest possible way to keep his promise to clean up WEIR Cemetery. I first visited this site in May of 1997. In June 1997, Mr. Stewart assured me that he WOULD get this cemetery cleaned up. I have made it a point to drive by WEIR Cemetery several times a year since then and it has NEVER been touched. I advised Mr. Stewart and the other 11 Township Trustees in this County last year of the services available from the Clark County Community Service Corps in the form of "community service" probationers to do FREE labor, such as weedeating and cutting out trees. Apparently Mr. Stewart has never availed himself of this or any similar resource. I was there this afternoon (6/28/98) and WEIR Cemetery is in far worse condition that it was in June of last year. The weeds are 4-5 feet high. It is impossible to get into the cemetery because of the chest-high wall of weeds. Mr. Stewart assured me last year that he has a budget amount set aside for "cemetery maintenance" of abandoned cemeteries in his township (those without associations to maintain them) and that WEIR Cemetery is the ONLY cemetery in his township for which he is responsible. He promised that it would be attended to. This has simply not been done. Well I think I went back another generation on my Weir line. I'll repost my entire Weir line now just in case we have any more people on the list with Weirs from Scotland. -Mary Weir married Robert Salmon in 1832 in Kirkintilloch, Dunbarton, Scotland. Mary was born 22 sep 1812 in Kirkintilloch to James Weir and Anne Gray. -James Weir was born 13 Sep 1776 in Kirkintilloch to William Weir and Jean Millar. -William Weir was christened 30 Dec 1739 in Cadder, Lanark, Scotland to James Weir and Agnes Hendry. -James Weir was christened 17 Apr 1692 in Cadder to John Weir and Agnes Sheills. Can anyone help me on this line at all? If you think you might have a connection, please write. They also have ties with Glasgow and Barony, Lanark. I am passing on a message sent to all listowners from Rootsweb regarding the future blocking of Mime formatted text and any attachments except forwarded messages. For any of you that might need help turning off these features in your mailer, see the URL at the bottom of this message. Thanks ------<snip>------------------------ Hi, folks -- Well, it took almost two months longer than expected, but we're right now installing a SmartList hack that blocks file attachments (including VCARDS), HTML messages and enriched text postings. Sorry about the delay: things have been crazy around here. This note is to let you know how it works. When a poster sends something to a mailing list written in HTML, or with a non-plain-text attached file, the list server will send the poster's message back to them, with a note at the bottom explaining the plain-text requirement at RootsWeb. A COPY OF THIS REJECTION MESSAGE WILL BE SENT TO YOU AS WELL! That's because the poster may write back to you to complain or to ask for help, and it can be pretty confusing if they write a reply to a message that you never saw. So when you suddenly start getting messages from [email protected], quoting some ungodly HTML mess that you never saw before, don't be alarmed. :-) It just means the list server is rejecting a MIME message that was sent to your list, and that you may get a response from the poster. This change is not currently something the listowner can turn on and off. Attachments will be blocked from every list alike. This might not be to the taste of some listowners, so we'll consider closely whether it would be safe to make it an optional setting. Thanks to Marc Nozell for finding the SmartList patch that was used as the basis for this fix! Mike, Nope. That would help for sure. I am not even sure that WARE was her maiden name. That's what's on the marriage record. You have any possibilities? Fred > > Do you know who the names of Mary's parents and any brothers or > sisters names? > > Mike Troxell >
