Hi Ruby; BMD refers to births, marriages and deaths. Some of these lists are formal government or church lists and some are posted by individuals such as a cemetery that they have researched on their own. Don
Dear Don: I don't know what BMD lists are. But I was interested in your surname list. I invite you to check out my web page for Collins and Rutherford info. Can anyone reccommend some good BMD lists For this surname???????? I am looking for information on the WARE family in DEVON. John J. WARE was born 1877, in New Brunswick, Middlesex Co., NJ but his parents were born in Devon. Sherry: The following passage is from Wier/Wear From Here & There To the White House by Olga Jones and Joann Wear Spore. Delilah, daughter of George Wear, born about 1827, married 4 Feb. 1847, Johnson Co. MO Erasmus Darwin Wallace. He was the son of John and Elizabeth (Walker) Wallace. The children of Delilah and Erasmus were: Rose Ann who married Robert S. Grill. Finis R. who married (1st) Nellie Elliot and (2nd) Minnie House. Both Children were born in Johnson Co MO and are on the 1850 Johnson Co. Census with their parents and living with their grandparents George and Sarah Wear. The other children of Delilah and Erasmus were: Dora; Mollie who married D. Mahoney; Lou J. who married Douglas Lain; William T. who married Mary Goulden; Octavia who married Jno. P. Graves; and George W. who married Flora McMillan. As stated before, George Weir/Wear is shown living next door to his father John on the 1799 and 1801 Washington Co. TN Tax lists. Then, in 1820 we find him on the Limestone Co AL Census with 4 males 0/21 and 1 over 21 - the females were 6 0/21 and 1 over 21. In 1840 we find him in Johnson Co MO with 1 male 0/5, 2 5/10, 1 15/20, 1 20/30 and himself age 50/60 - the females are 1 10/15, 2 15/20, 1 20/30 and Sarah age 50/60. these two census records would indicate that George and Sarah may have possibly had other children we have not identified or it culd be grandchildren. The foregoing was at the end of a 4 page outline of George Wear and his children. The children were : Margaret, John, Sara Angeline, Mary Eliza Barnett, Nancy A.B., Lucinda, Archibald Smiley, William D. Robert Bell and Delilah. There is a short blurb about each of them in the book. George Weir/Wear born 2 Feb, 1777 died 5 Dec 1865 as shown on his tombstone. He is buried in Greeville "Old Carrollville," a small place out of Booneville, MS in the Lebanon graveyard. If you will provide your mailing address, I will send you a copy of these pages. However, I am leaving town on a business trip, and will not be able to get copies in the mail until Monday, Aug. 24. The book also mentions that George Wear applied for land Patents in Johnson Co MO. Missouri is one of about a dozen states where Bureau of Land Management documents can be found on the Internet. You can look them up, view copies of the actual documents, down load them and print them out from the following web page http://www.glorecords.blm.gov Hint: Just put in his name and do the genealogy search. You may have to try both Weir and Wear in order to find him. Hope this helps. Larry in Texas I am also a Weir/Wear descendant, but not for certain if there are any ties to George.
Hello, This is my first posting to the Ware LIst. I would be most appreciative if anyone out there could provide me with or direct me to information on the ancestors of Delia, Archibald, or Frank Wear. The scant information I have came from a grandson, David Fooshee, and follows verbatim: "The Wears were Scottish people who moved to Ireland and then to America. Two brothers lived in America prior to 1776. One fought in the American Revolution. Descendent women are eligible to be 'Daughters of the American Revolutionary War'. The other brother moved to Carolina, later to Verona Mississippi, near Tupelo Missippi. Archibald was a physician, his wife Elizabeth. Dr. Archibald Wear's sister was Delia who married Erasmus Darwin Wallace. Dr Frank Wear, Presbyterian Minister of Paris, Texas was later President of Trinity University which was first established in Waxahachie, Texas and now stands in San Antonio, Texas. His son, Frank Wear is (1982) 6th District Federal Judge." Delia was my late husband's ggrandmother and my daughter's gggrandmother. I have a pretty good pedigree on her husband Erasmus WALLACE, but would love to find out more about her family. The history above is a bit confusing and I can't figure if Archibald & Frank were the orginal brothers being disussed or if they came about sometime later. I do have one faded photo of Delia scanned into my system that I will be happy to share. The Children of Erasmus Darwin Wallace and Delia Wear Wallace were: George Wear Wallace m. Flora McMillan Hugh Wallace Fine Wallace (male) Will Wallace Mamie Wallace m. Denis Mahoney Dora Wallace Sallie Wallace Lou Wallace (female) Thanks in advance for any information you might provide. Searching for forebears of MARGARET WARE who probably died in Ohio in the 1840s. She married JOHN NEWLAND in Frederick County, VA in 1788. Her father was JOSEPH WEIR/WEER, who died in Frederick County about 1823.

I am also a descendent of Samuel Ware who was in Lawrence Co AR in 1816. His son Joseph Ware was married to Martha McKnight. I have very little on the ancestry of Joseph Ware but allot on the descendants. I do know that Joseph Ware was born 4 Sept 1792 in Greenville Co, SC. his father was Samuel Ware married to Sally. Samuel's father was William Ware. Is this possibly the same Samuel Ware you are searching for? If so I have a couple of other cousins to introduce you to. I can send you a copy of the information that I have if you would like. Just let me know.
