    3. Here is some of the info I found in the book I was reading today. James Ward JR abt 1700 Ulster Ireland. He married there and his wife accompanied him to America. They moved along with their three small sons to America in 1730. They lived in Pennsylvania for many years then on Sept 9, 1748 James sold the property there for the sum of 23 pounds. Since his son James III was married in 1749 in Virginia it is presumed that they went directly there even though James Jr was not mentioned in Virginia records for several years. Jmaes Jr settled near Augusta County VA. He was a member of the AUgusta COunty Militia and served during the French and Indian War in 1750. James Ward Jr and his wife were the parents of at least three sons: Joseph born 1723 and William born 1725 and James born 1727. Joseph Ward 1723 Ulster Ireland. He married Janet McMills in early 1740's in Pennsylvania. They moved with his parents to Virginia where they first settled in Augusta COunty. Joseph served in the French and Indian War with his father and two brothers.. He was listed as a member of Capt. Dickenson's Rangers in 1756-1757, and he was in the AUgusta Militia in 1758. He served in the CHerahee Expedition in the 1760's as well as participated in other Indian encounters. He received numerous land warrants for his Colonial military services the largest being 2,000 acres. On February 10,1763 Joseph and Janet purchased a 220 acre place on Pages Draft of the James River. This cost them 55 pounds 10 shillings. On August 20, 1776 they sold it as a loss recieving only 37 pounds. More Wards later Linda
