Well, with all this talk of these 3 to 5 Ward lines coming to America, I guess I'd better mention mine, which I haven't done in a while on this list. My Ward line comes from Allegany County New York. His name is Charles WARD. I have Bible records that show he was born there in 15 May 1805. I don't know the names of his parents. The fiirst place that I've found him officially is in Adams County, Illinois where he married a Martha Burke on 17 August 1836. The Burke family is from Russell County, Virginia. Charles and Martha had all but one of their children in Adams County, Illinois. The last one, my grandfather, was born when the family moved to Knox County, Missouri in about 1865. The children's names were Martha Jane, William J., John B., Isaiah A., David C., Harvey Z., Granville, and Henry Harrison (my grandfather). There is an old "hand-me-down" story that "Charles rode a mule from West Virginia to Golden, Illinois and there, he married Martha. They later crossed the river at Canton and settled on that hill at the south side of Little Bridge Creek, north of Knox City." Golden is in Adams County, Illinois and Little Bridge Creek is in fact, where my Charles lived in Missouri. I've never been able to find any reference to my Charles in Virginia, West Verginia or Allegany County, New York. There was a Zebediah Ward living near by my Charles in Adams County, Illinois and moved to Knox County, Missouri at the same time my Charles' family moved. Zebediah's family all joined the same church that my Charles' family join in Missouri, also. I've never been able to prove it but have always thought that this Zebediah was related, maybe a brother or cousin, to my Charles. If anyone sees any connection of my Charles WARD to any of these 3 to 5 lines that came to America or for that matter, to any of your WARD families, I'd sure appreciate hearing from you. Thanks Carl WARD
